KOLHAPUR AFTER FIVE YEARS

After a lot of overthinking and realising once again that help is just an ask away, I found the nicest person to look after Phoebo. Woof and Wag made sure that my little heart was healthy and happy while I was away. Here he is scampering around realising I am packing his bag. He did really well for five days.

This was the first time I flew to Kolhapur since their airport resumed operations and it's so beautiful - made for the perfect place to inhale deeply and smile before walking out.
Tea and cake, baked by yours truly the day before travelling, conversations, and a thriving farm in front, slowly knitting memories
Same day drives to the farm, roads winding between mounds of grass coloured in monsoon green and watercolour skies
And returning with a bagful of love and absolute hard work

*I also managed to churn some butter quickly and enjoy heavenly aloo parathas with them - see centre photo - that blob of white in the top right corner is everything
Cooking in Kolhapur was fun!

special mention - tried Khandoli for the first time and for someone whose comfort food list has bread and eggs under it, this was really good
extra special mention - this man and his bhel has a special place in my childhood memories for making the best bhel just down the road from home. I think Redachya Takri chi bhel is better than Rajabhau chi Bhel.
i might be missing out on a dish or two but suffice to say, my stomach and heart are so full!

was mostly spent under the warm voice of nani as the cool breeze blew in through the windows of her airy room, carry with it the heady smell of familiar conversations, as I drifted to sleep in the afternoons

I am accepting that summer in August is now a thing - Saturday morning was spent exploring a lot of Rohu fish curry recipes online, to pair w chilled beer and steamed rice. Having made fish all of once in my life before this, Rohu is a very simple and easy fish to begin - next time, I'm moving from freshwater to sea.
